COMPUTER PROGRAM FOR EAR TRAINING
Here you find a little, yet useful program to train the ear (in a rather traditional way). It generates and plays back random chains of tones using the 12-tone equal temperament. As you see on the screen-shot below, one can set some of the parameters like speed, length or ambitus and then have the randomly generated tone chain played back as often as one likes. The idea is to play the little melody output on your instrument, and probably get a little bit better over time. The program is written in PC-Basic. To run it on your computer, you also need the PC-Basic shell, which is free / open source and works under Windows, Mac OS and Linux. Download links below the screen-shot.
